Family Life

I grew up in Milledgeville, GA.  Milledgeville has an interesting history; it was the state capitol of Georgia before the Civil War.  I am the 15th of 16 children.  I have 11 sisters and 4 brothers.  Family togetherness is and was always our bond.  As a child, I admired the work ethic of my parents.  In his younger days, my Dad worked tirelessly on a farm with my Grandfather in a rural community in Sparta, GA.  I have always admired his discipline and hard work.  My Mother had several jobs as I was growing up, cleaning homes and working as a nursing aide, until she was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes in her early 30's.  I have always admired her compassion for others and willingness to work hard. Throughout my life, I have strived to embrace their examples of hard work, discipline and compassion.  If I am elected, I will continue to work hard, maintain disciplined, and be compassionate for the people I represent.

I met my wife, Marie, while we were both attending college in Idaho.  We were married in 1995 and after graduation, moved to Provo, UT to attend BYU. We have 5 children, ages 15, 11, 9, 6, and 16 months.  In 2009, we bought our first house and moved to Eagle Mountain.  We love it here, and we are thankful to be part of such a family oriented city.

When I am not working, serving or campaigning I love spending time with my wife and children, playing golf, writing, and catching up on Sports Center.  As a family we love to go hiking, playing sports together, meeting people, hanging out with friends, or just running around playing tag and having fun.
